Hi friends!

After many months of looking at pictures on Pinterest of every modern farmhouse black kitchen I could find, I finally got the chance to do one for myself.

I’m so excited!

I’ve tweaked the last detail and now it’s time to reveal our sleek, black, modern farmhouse kitchen.

It was a total gut job and took about 3 months to complete and now it’s finished.

We brought this 1972 kitchen (kicking and screaming) into 2019. So here is the before.

Ok.

Are you ready?

Say goodbye to 1972!

Here is our sleek black modern farmhouse kitchen!

We had a white kitchen at our last house.  You can see it here.

But after spending a huge amount of time on Pinterest I had to go with black this time.

I love how sleek it is…. but still warm.

I absolutely love the contrast of black and white with touches of gold accents.

The modern farmhouse kitchen of my dreams.

I absolutely LOVE the light in this house!

The shiplap walls give the all-white room just the texture it needs and a touch of farmhouse.

The black, metal, and touch of mid-century give the room that little bit of modern I love.

I looked for a small breakfast table to weeks and the finally decided to design my own so that I could get exactly what I was looking for.  I found someone on Etsy to make the base for me and then had a local craftsman make the top.

I don’t have a ton of room here and I had to tear out a laundry closet to make the room so this small table works beautifully.

I ordered the chairs from Target.com. I love the style and the fact that they are upholstered instead of plastic.  So much more comfortable.

Do you like the modern farmhouse look or do you go for a straight farmhouse look?

That’s one of the things I love about farmhouse style, there are so many different ways to do it.

I found this adorable metal and wood baker’s rack on Hayneedle.

It fit the space perfectly and gave this wall in the breakfast nook just the texture it needed.

I’ve used the counter space for a coffee bar.

This wouldn’t be a modern farmhouse kitchen without the black metal open shelving.

I searched for months to find these shelves.

After the cabinets, I didn’t have a huge budget left for the shelves so I ended up ordering bookshelves and mounting them to the wall.

It was nervous but they worked out better than I dreamed.

I love it when a low budget fix works out, don’t you?
